Orthokeratology or Ortho-K is a non-surgical therapy which reshapes or flattens the cornea of the eye using custom designed contact lenses. This reduces or even eliminates the dependence on glasses or contact lenses during the day.

If your child is nearsighted (also known as myopia), their schoolwork, sports and other recreational activities can be affected. Also, children’s nearsightedness tends to progress over time (progressive myopia). Of all the options that have been studied in controlled clinical trials, Ortho-K has been shown to be the most effective at slowing progressive myopia.

There is always a risk of infection or abnormal blood vessel growth involved when any contact lens is worn. This risk is minimized by adhering to scrupulous disinfection and care, and hygiene procedures, by wearing your lenses only as instructed and by coming in for regular progress visits.

IT IS ALSO KNOWN AS:
Ortho-K, Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT), Vision Shaping Treatment (VST), Gentle Shaping System, Corneal Molding, and Wave Front Corneal Molding
